โ๏ธ Early Monsoon Arrives in Korea — Plus Updates on Typhoon WUTIP
This summer's monsoon season is arriving about a week earlier than usual in Korea. Starting Thursday, June 12, Jeju Island will experience its first seasonal rainfall of the year — making it the third earliest start on record.

๐ง๏ธ Monsoon Begins in Jeju
A large band of rain clouds has formed over the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. As the monsoon front moves northward, Jeju is expected to receive up to 80mm of rainfall by Saturday (June 14), with possible heavy showers of 10–20mm per hour.

๐ฆ๏ธ Rain Spreading Nationwide
Moisture from the tropical south will move upward, bringing rain to southern inland areas and the Chungcheong region starting Friday (June 13). By the weekend (Saturday to Sunday, June 14–15), rain is expected to spread nationwide. If you have outdoor plans, be sure to check the weather forecast frequently.

KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration): “Tropical moisture will enter the country, beginning with Jeju and the southern coast on June 13–14 and expanding nationwide.”

๐ What About Typhoon WUTIP?
The first typhoon of the year, WUTIP, is currently passing over Hainan, China, and is expected to weaken near Shanghai early next week. While the storm will remain far from Korea and cause no direct impact, the moisture it brings could enhance rainfall over the Korean Peninsula.
Starting Sunday (June 15), unstable atmospheric conditions could lead to heavy showers in many areas. Authorities are advising the public to check drainage systems, windows, and other potential hazards in advance.

โ Weekend Checklist
- Check the weather forecast before heading out
- Carry an umbrella or waterproof gear
- Have indoor plans as a backup
- Inspect windows and drains for safety
- Follow alerts from local weather services
This early monsoon may catch many off guard, but a little preparation goes a long way. Why not enjoy a cozy indoor weekend with the sound of rain in the background? ๐ง๏ธ
